STRUCTURAL FABRICATOR

We are currently seeking Structural Fabricator at several experience levels to join our team. Structural Fabricators will be based out of Rocket Lab's Space Structures Complex in Middle River, MD. The Structural Fabricator will play a crucial part in build and assembly of Neutron launch vehicle components, will also play a key role in the refurbishment of previously flown launch vehicles

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Performs structural aircraft repairs using appropriate sheet metal techniques and fasteners. Builds up surfaces and structures to specifications.
  • Plans and develops schemes for sheet metal repairs and/or modifications by utilizing blueprints, sketches, OEM or government specifications, engineering orders or other technical publications.
  • Uses precision measuring instruments to accomplish sheet metal repairs or modifications, (i.e. micrometers, calipers, surface plates, protractors, combination squares, etc.)
  • Sets up and uses sheet metal equipment such as power brakes, presses, saws, rollers, etc.
  • Constructs dollies, jigs, and special tools as required.
  • Documents all work accomplished (a.k.a “sign-off”) in a clear, concise and accurate manner.
  • Accomplishes Service Bulletins, Repair Letters, and Airworthiness Directives as required.
  • Reads and interprets maintenance manuals, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematic diagrams when required.
  • Responsible for knowing, understanding, following, promoting, and continuously improving company policies and procedures

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A STRUCTURAL FABRICATOR I:

  • High School Diploma or GED, with experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance
  • Experience with Sheet Metal Fabrication and/or Aircraft Structural Maintenance.
  • Rivet installation (both solid and mechanical) as well as high tolerance drilling

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A STRUCTURAL FABRICATOR II:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 2+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance
  • Experience with Sheet Metal Fabrication and/or Aircraft Structural Maintenance.
  • Rivet installation (both solid and mechanical) as well as high tolerance drilling

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A STRUCTURAL FABRICATOR III:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance
  • Experience with Sheet Metal Fabrication and/or Aircraft Structural Maintenance.
  • Rivet installation (both solid and mechanical) as well as high tolerance drilling
  • Heavy C & D repair stations or Depot Level Fabrication

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS AS A SENIOR STRUCTURAL FABRICATOR:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 5+ years of experience in mechanical assembly, technical repair, mechanical maintenance or similar in a highly regulated manufacturing or maintenance
  • Experience with Sheet Metal Fabrication and/or Aircraft Structural Maintenance.
  • Rivet installation (both solid and mechanical) as well as high tolerance drilling
  • Heavy C & D repair stations or Depot Level Fabrication

THESE QUALIFICATION WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • A&P certification? or relevant Military experience
  • 2+ years experience in new space or aerospace industry
  • Have done depo level mechanic work on aircraft
  • Military field experience is a significant advantage
  • Experience with scheduled maintenance at the C&D check level

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders and work platforms, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift up to 25lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces.
  • Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
