The Boeing Company is looking for a Lead Software Quality Engineer to join our Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) organization located in Berkeley, Missouri.
Our team of highly motivated, customer-focused engineers’ partner with BDS programs to help develop and maintain a culture of first-time quality throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
As a member of this team, you have the autonomy and responsibility to work with programs to assure the process for developing, controlling, and verifying software products is planned and executed, effectively improving the quality of our software products – whether developed by Boeing or provided by suppliers.
The Lead Software Quality Engineer will have a broad technical background and extensive experience in Quality Management Systems. The position will require strong leadership, analytical skills, teamwork, and excellent communication skills. The lead role is responsible for identifying resource requirements and assigning responsibility for specific work, including deadlines and performance expectations to the team. The lead role will need to develop and present compliance metrics at different levels in the organization, to other technical personnel, business leaders and customers.
Position Responsibilities:
Initiates new organization policies, procedures, infrastructure and metrics
Leads process improvement activities
Plans and develops complex proposals and cost estimates
Leads software quality reviews of large-scale, complex supplier proposals
Leads review and approval of software life cycle documents and program products
Establishes risk assessment criteria to determine audit requirements
Plans and leads multi-agency audits of software engineering processes and associated support functions
Evaluates new technologies for configuration management tools and processes and makes recommendations for implementation
Works with senior management to establish process improvement goals
Plans software quality test activities and completion of test readiness activities
Ensures integrity of test process
Verifies test results
Leads initial reconciliation of complex, highly integrated software data products
Participates in development of industry standards for software procurement
Develops program specific software quality requirements for flow down to suppliers
Plans and verifies acceptability of suppliers software quality systems and programs
Performs software acceptance and delivery activities for high risk or high value procurements
Analyzes organization level data to identify trends in non-compliances and initiates organization level corrective and preventive actions
Reviews and approves corrective and preventive action plans
Verifies effectiveness of corrective and preventive action plans
Reports non-conformance and corrective action data to appropriate management
Perform Earned Value Management (EVM) and Cost Account Management (CAM) activities.
Provides consultative direction to Software Quality Engineers
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
9+ years of experience in regulated environment Quality Management System, International Organization for Standardization (ISO9001), Aerospace Standard (AS91001)
Experience in managing a software system throughout the entire life cycle
Experience with the verification, validation, certification and qualification processes and procedures, including knowledge of governing regulations and compliance requirements
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in the Military Standards industry, military and government specifications, handbooks and standards as it relates to Software Development Life Cycle
Experience in training and mentoring early career engineers, fostering the next generation of talent
Experience with presentation and communication to cross function audience
Experience with Cost Account Management (CAM)
Education and Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications. In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Security Clearance
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim U.S. Secret Clearance Pre-Start and final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required. This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Summary pay range: $129,200 - $174,800
