Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) Space, Intelligence and Weapon Systems (SI&WS) Ground and Mission Systems Engineering (GMSE) is looking for an Experienced or Senior Ground Systems Engineer (Level 3 or 4) to join our team in Seal Beach or El Segundo, California.
The SI&WS GMSE division creates the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. We work with both commercial and proprietary customers in the development of the next-generation technologies in space. Our team focuses on rapid prototyping to demonstrate a host of mission-focused technologies for a variety of customers. Our group works all facets of engineering from technology investment, concept development, proposal writing, requirements, design, build, integration, test, and demonstration of products in their relevant environments.
The Ground Systems Engineer will join a high-performing team that is immersed in high intensity development projects. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work proprietary programs for U.S. government customers who are responsible for exciting advanced technology national security missions.
Position Responsibilities:
Monitors network performance to identify potential problems.
Performs network preventative maintenance tasks such as installing patches.
Identifies root causes of network issues and provides resolution.
Configures and maintains network infrastructure such as routers, switches, firewalls and security devices.
Designs, installs, and upgrades network components in support of operations and modernization.
Supports backup and recovery plans.
Assists in identifying, protecting, detecting, responding, and recovering from security incidents.
This position is expected to be 100 onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
3+ years of experience with Systems Engineering processes and principles such as system architecture, interface definition, and requirements definition, decomposition, verification, and validation
3+ years of experience in networking and security design concepts, models, principles, architecture, methods, and protocols
3+ years of experience in network management principles and tools to analyze network traffic flows and patterns
Experience in measures and indicators of network system performance and availability
Knowledge of capabilities and applications of network equipment including hubs, routers, switches, bridges, servers, transmission media, and related network hardware
Experience with DevSecOps
Current CompTIA Security+ certification
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with Ground Systems Maintenance and Modernization
Experience with virtual Ground station hardware
Experience with JIRA and Confluence
Active network engineering certifications in Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+

Experienced (Level 3) Summary pay range: $104,550 - $141,450
Senior (Level 4) Summary pay range: $128,350 - $173,650
